Salford Care Organisation seeks a dedicated Social Worker to explore innovative methods of supporting adults with Autism. This role offers a unique developmental opportunity to work directly with individuals who have lived experiences of Autism. The chosen candidate will be responsible for creating new approaches and delivering training on assessing and achieving positive outcomes for individuals with Autism. The role requires a champion who can share best practices and support colleagues in assessment and support planning processes.

Main Duties

The Social Worker will become a skilled and effective practitioner, working with considerable autonomy. The position may necessitate a deep understanding and expertise in specific practice areas, acquired through formal training or professional growth. Additional opportunities for qualifications, such as Practice Educator training, Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP) certification, or Best Interests Assessor (BIA) specialization, will be accessible.

Key responsibilities include

– Integrating professional knowledge, service user perspectives, and research evidence in daily practice.

– Demonstrating expert practice in complex situations, managing higher risk levels while promoting enablement and self-determination.

– Networking and liaising with a wide range of professionals and colleagues.

Person Specification

Qualifications:

– Recognized Social Work qualification: Degree, CQSW, CSS, Dip SW, or equivalent.

– Current registration with Social Work England.

Skills, Knowledge & Experience:

– Understanding of the principles and values of the Care Act 2014, Mental Capacity Act 2005, and other relevant legislation.

– Ability to develop effective working relationships with service users and carers.

– Good assessment practice and understanding of the integration agenda and enablement model.

– Thorough understanding of personalization and a person-centered approach.

– Ability to maintain accurate records and communicate complex information clearly.

– Understanding of the social work role in a multi-disciplinary setting.

– Negotiation, mediation, and de-escalation skills.

– Experience working with adults/older people.

– Good computer skills.

Desirable:

– Additional qualifications such as Best Interest Assessor, AMHP, Practice Educator, or other professional development qualifications.

– Innovative approach to community support methods.

– Knowledge of relevant Welfare Rights Legislation and recent Government Guidelines.
