Training and Qualifications

Blossom Care Group supports professional growth by funding Level 3, 4, or 5 QCF/NVQ Residential Childcare Qualifications. We are committed to maintaining the health, safety, welfare, and development of the young people in our care.

Key Responsibilities

As a Senior Care Worker, you will:

  • Collaborate with the Manager to ensure the highest standard of care for our service users.
  • Foster genuine relationships with young people, helping them achieve their personal goals.
  • Guide and support other staff members, providing supervision and advice.
  • Work on a varied shift rota, including evenings, sleep-ins, and weekends.
  • Engage with external agencies to build strong professional relationships.
  • Conduct key work sessions, produce detailed reports, and manage safeguarding responsibilities.
  • Assist with daily tasks, including cooking, cleaning, and medical appointments.

Shift Patterns and Pay

The role involves working 10 to 11 shifts per month, typically on a 1 day on, 2 days off schedule, with 6 sleep-ins. The monthly salary for a 10-shift month, including sleep-ins and overtime, totals approximately £35,003.80. Sleep-ins are compensated at £60 per night, and on-call cover is paid at £35 per night.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Experience in a children and young adult residential environment.
  • A solid understanding of legislation related to the care of young people.
  • Experience working with young people facing social, emotional, or behavioral difficulties.
  • A full driving license and ideally, their own transport.
  • A DBS Certificate and DBS Update Service registration (preferred but not mandatory).

Qualifications Required

  • Level 3 Diploma/NVQ in Residential Childcare or related fields.
  • Level 4 or 5 Diploma/NVQ in Leadership and Management for Care Services or equivalent qualifications.
