About the Role

The Sister/Charge Nurse will play a key role in leading the Trauma and Orthopaedics Ward D8 at Cambridge University Hospital. They will deputise for the Ward Manager, oversee staff management, and ensure the delivery of safe and effective care. The role involves coordinating training and professional development for nursing staff, managing bed occupancy, and maintaining high standards of patient care. Strong leadership skills and a commitment to teamwork are essential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deputise for the Ward Manager in her absence
  • Assist with staff recruitment, selection, and interviewing
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate care programs without supervision
  • Set and implement objectives and appraisals for staff
  • Promote effective teamwork and patient-centered care
  • Co-ordinate nursing care on a rotational shift system
  • Facilitate ongoing training and development for all grades of nursing staff
