About the Role
The Housekeeping Assistant is responsible for maintaining high standards of cleanliness and hygiene across assigned areas, adhering to Infection Prevention and Control guidelines. The role includes cleaning corridors, offices, stairs, and patient areas, following National Cleaning Standards. Proper use and maintenance of cleaning equipment, safe handling of chemicals, and adherence to manual handling and safety procedures are essential. The assistant will also participate in training, ensure security of stock, and maintain patient privacy and dignity.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain cleanliness of assigned areas under manager’s direction
- Follow Infection Control procedures and National Cleaning Standards
- Handle and store cleaning chemicals safely according to COSHH regulations
- Use and maintain cleaning equipment properly
- Support orientation of new starters through buddying
- Report equipment breakdowns or hazards to the Line Manager
- Complete tasks in line with manual handling and safety training
- Ensure patient privacy and dignity at all times
