Requirements

  • Active NMC registration as a registered nurse (or pre-registration student due to qualify by January 2025)
  • Recent academic study at level 6 (degree level)
  • Passion for public health
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with other agencies
  • Full driving license with no restrictions to drive (unless exempt under the Equality Act 2010)
  • Access to a car for work

About the Role

As a student school nurse, you’ll be a key part of the Healthy Child Programme (HCP), which focuses on ensuring kids stay healthy and thriving. You’ll be working with children and young people in a range of settings, from schools and homes to community venues. You’ll help kids aged 5 to 19 and their families with all sorts of things, like health education, vaccinations, and mental health support. You’ll be learning from experienced nurses and health visitors, and you’ll get to make a real difference in the lives of kids in your community.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify and assess the health needs of children aged 5 to 19
  • Offer support to ensure that the child’s health needs are met
  • Work with children and young people in schools, homes, community venues, and virtually
  • Promote healthy lifestyles and reduce inequalities for children and young people
  • Collaborate with other agencies to provide holistic care for children and their families
  • Maintain accurate records and reports
  • Participate in ongoing professional development
