Google has recently announced the introduction of two innovative AI tools aimed at significantly improving the online search experience. These tools are designed to make searching for information more personalized and intuitive, leveraging generative AI technology.

One of the key features, known as Circle to Search, empowers Android users to circle, tap, highlight, or scribble on images, videos, or text on their smartphones. This allows users to gather more information about what they see, whether it’s a landmark in a social media photo or other visual elements.

The second feature enables users to use their mobile cameras to ask questions about an image or text via the Google app. For instance, users can inquire about the rules of an unfamiliar board game they come across at a yard sale by pointing their camera or uploading a photo.

These features have undergone quiet testing to refine generative AI technology, which also powers popular chatbots like ChatGPT. The goal is to enhance the personalization and intuitiveness of Google Search.

The unveiling of these features was teased during Samsung’s recent Unpacked event and is set to be rolled out on high-end Android smartphones, including the Galaxy S24, Pixel 8, and Pixel 8 Pro, starting January 3. Google continues to push the boundaries of what is achievable in the realm of online search, with these new tools marking another step in that direction.
