Job Overview
Interview and Assessment Details: Monday, 16th December 2024, 17:00–20:30. Attendance is required for the full session. Alternative dates are not available.
Applications are invited from enthusiastic and motivated individuals to join the Urgent and Emergency Care team. Roles include placements in the Emergency Department (ED), Adult Assessment Unit (AAU), Charnley Ward, and Same Day Emergency Care Unit (SDEC).
A robust induction program, including practical training and support to achieve the Care Certificate, will be provided. Full-time and part-time positions are available, with a minimum contract of 24.5 hours per week.
Main Duties
The Healthcare Support Worker supports ward and department teams under the supervision of registered nurses or midwives, performing tasks that include:
- Delivering patient care as part of the multidisciplinary team.
- Assisting in ward and departmental organization.
- Maintaining a safe and caring environment.
- Completing the National Care Certificate program.
This role is initially offered as Band 2 with promotion to Band 3 upon:
- Successful completion of the Care Certificate within the six-month probationary period.
- Submission and acceptance of an existing Care Certificate that meets required standards.
Failure to complete the Care Certificate within the specified timeframe may result in termination of employment.
Responsibilities
- Provide support in implementing patient care plans.
- Offer reassurance and comfort to patients and carers.
- Assist with daily care activities, including personal hygiene and pressure area care.
- Promote patient independence with appropriate supervision.
- Escort patients to other departments when required.
- Maintain a clean and organized environment, including bed-making and linen sorting.
Person Specification
Essential Criteria
- Level One Functional Skills in Maths and English (or higher).
- Understanding of the importance of quality care.
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
Desirable Criteria
- Previous experience in healthcare.
