Job Overview
The role is for an experienced Staff Nurse in the Children’s Emergency Department and Paediatric Assessment Unit at Basildon Hospital. Main Duties of the Job
The role involves working within a supportive department as part of a team of paediatric nurses with diverse experience levels. The department includes senior Band 7 Sisters/Charge Nurses and a dedicated practice development team that focuses on skill enhancement and continued learning opportunities.
Responsibilities include:
- Caring for a wide variety of emergency patients, including trauma and medical/surgical admissions.
- Contributing to an independent Paediatric Emergency Nurse Practitioner-led service operating seven days a week.
- Supporting junior staff in their development while maintaining high standards of care.

- RSCN/RN (Child)
Desirable
- Relevant nursing degree
- MIPS/ENB 998 or equivalent qualification
- Current APLS/EPLS or willingness to undertake
Experience
Essential
- Experience in nursing care for children and families in an acute paediatric care setting.
Desirable
- Awareness of child protection issues
- Experience in emergency department or PAU settings
Skills
Essential
- Excellent written communication skills, as evidenced in the application
- Basic computer skills, including Word, email, and Excel

- Training in IV therapy administration
- Training to access central or long lines
- Training to administer chemotherapy
