Job Overview
An innovative and dynamic nurse with proven dermatology experience is sought to enhance the team by providing expert clinical practice, education, professional leadership, and service improvement. The role is central to working collaboratively with the MDT team, building capacity, and expanding nurse-led services to deliver the strategic vision of a National Dermatology Centre of Excellence.
This newly created position will focus on defining, shaping, and developing the Nurse-Led Drug Monitoring Service, ensuring responsiveness to the needs of patients and staff. Expertise in inflammatory dermatology is essential.
The ideal candidate should demonstrate highly developed specialist knowledge about treatment options for inflammatory dermatosis and manage a caseload of patients autonomously in nurse-led drug monitoring clinics.
Applications are welcome for the Dermatology Advanced Clinical Practitioner position at Band 8A. Consideration will also be given to experienced Dermatology Nurses at Band 7 who are willing to undertake academic and in-house training to progress to Band 8A Advanced Practice Nurse.
Preference will be given to internal Trust staff, as well as those with ‘Priority’ or ‘At Risk’ status, including NHS At Risk staff throughout Devon, with recent relevant experience as outlined in the Person Specification.
Main Duties of the Job
The post holder will:
- Practice autonomously at an advanced level to provide high-quality, patient-centered care, including advanced assessment, examination, diagnosis, and management in line with Trust policy.
- Utilize the four pillars of advanced practice to support Trust objectives while adhering to organizational values and policies.
- Coordinate and manage the care of dermatology patients to enhance and improve existing services.
- Collaborate closely with the medical team to provide a skill mix and facilitate service redesign to meet future clinical demand.
- Serve as an expert point of contact for dermatology staff, assessing patients in nurse-led clinics and providing appropriate advice or treatment.
- Establish strong working relationships and maintain expert communication and networking.
- Develop and deliver specialist education and training programs for healthcare professionals.
- Conduct research and audits to ensure evidence-based practice in the specialty.
