Job Overview
An opportunity is available for experienced Band 5/6 registered Children’s/Adult Nurses or Midwife Qualified in Speciality (QIS) Neonatal Nurses to join the Leicester Neonatal Education Team as a Band 6 Clinical Nurse Educator. Clinical credibility and visibility will be maintained by working in the practice setting, with professional development opportunities available, including funding for relevant degree or master’s level studies.

Main Duties of the Job

  • Work clinically alongside registered and non-registered staff to promote and deliver education, ensure policy implementation, and develop a workforce fit for purpose.
  • Contribute to the implementation of the CMG Education, Training, and Development Strategy through change, innovation, and new ways of working.
  • Collaborate with ward leaders to provide quality learning environments for students and learners.
  • Deliver Trust-wide education and training initiatives, support professional development, and lead on Quality Improvement (QI) projects.
  • Identify education and training needs through the Knowledge and Skills Framework (KSF) Appraisal/Personal Development Planning (PDP) process.

Detailed Job Description and Responsibilities

  • Contribute to education and training programs Trust-wide.
  • Support nursing and allied health professional teams in training, professional development, and policy implementation.
  • Collaborate on Quality Improvement initiatives and new working practices.
  • Assist in delivering a quality learning environment for students and learners.
  • Engage with the Education and Practice Development Team to identify training needs and support change initiatives.

Person Specification
Qualifications & Training

  • Essential: Registered Nurse or Midwife (NMC), NMC Teaching and Assessing Program or equivalent, Qualified In Speciality (QIS) Neonatal Nurse, NLS provider.
  • Desirable: Evidence of formal classroom teaching and experience supporting large groups of learners.

Skills

  • Essential: Teaching/assessment skills, computer literacy.
  • Desirable: Organisational skills.

Knowledge and Attributes

  • Essential: Enthusiasm, motivation, and commitment to professional development.
  • Desirable: Knowledge of audit and research processes.
