Job Overview
An opportunity is available for an Audio Typist within the Neurophysiology Department at York Hospital. The role requires a highly motivated individual capable of working both independently and as part of a team. The position involves proficiency in audio typing, particularly in transcribing complex digital dictation.
Applicants should possess GCSE English Language at Grade C or above (or equivalent) and excellent typing skills or an RSA II level qualification. Previous clerical or administrative experience, preferably in a healthcare or customer-focused environment, is essential.
This position is for 18.75 hours per week.
Main Duties of the Job
- Transcription of outpatient clinic, discharge, and administrative letters through audio typing.
- Management of associated tasks, including appointment scheduling based on dictation instructions.
- Completion of filing, photocopying, and other administrative tasks.
- Provision of typing and administrative support to the medical secretariat as required.
- Handling routine internal telephone queries professionally.
- Responding to confidential matters with professionalism and sensitivity.

Person Specification
Qualifications
- GCSE English Language at Grade C or above (or equivalent).
- Word processing or typing skills at RSA II level (or equivalent).
Experience/Skills

- Familiarity with IT applications, including Microsoft Office.
Desirable Knowledge

Sponsorship

DBS Checks
The cost of DBS checks for new employees will be deducted from the salary in one payment or installments. Current charges are £27.38 for standard checks and £55.38 for enhanced checks.
