Job Overview
New Units
- Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC): Offers patients assessment, diagnosis, and treatment on the same day, reducing hospital admissions.
- Acute Assessment Unit (AAU): Rebranded from the Emergency Floor, designed for immediate evaluation and tailored treatment of acutely ill patients.
As part of these innovative units, you will support efficient patient flow, ensuring timely assessments and care delivery.
Responsibilities
- Patient Transport: Safely move patients to/from the SDEC, AAU, or other hospital departments using wheelchairs or trolleys.
- Equipment Management: Ensure all equipment is available, functional, and sanitized after use.
- Environmental Safety: Maintain clean, organized, and hazard-free patient and communal areas.
- Specimen Handling: Transport samples to the lab promptly, adhering to safety protocols.
- Support Staff: Assist nursing and clinical teams with non-clinical tasks to enhance patient flow.
- Patient Interaction: Provide directions and basic information to patients and families in a friendly manner.
- Health & Safety Compliance: Follow protocols to ensure the safety of patients, staff, and yourself.
Qualifications
Essential Criteria
- Basic literacy and numeracy skills.
- Experience in high-demand, fast-paced environments.
- Customer service awareness.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to perform manual handling tasks safely.
Desirable Criteria
- Previous experience in healthcare or public-facing roles.
- Familiarity with NHS settings or prior experience as a porter or assistant.
