About the Role
We are excited to invite passionate individuals to join our team as a Positive Behaviour Support Practitioner at M&D Care. This is a unique opportunity to make a profound impact on the lives of individuals with learning disabilities, Autism Spectrum Conditions (ASC), and challenging behaviours. You will champion Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) and Active Support, reducing restrictive practices and fostering positive change for the people we support, their families, and our staff.
This role allows you to work directly with individuals, lead initiatives, and implement PBS strategies to improve overall outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
Direct Support and Implementation
- Provide hands-on support to individuals while modeling positive behaviour practices.
- Develop and coordinate PBS assessments and support plans, ensuring they align with individual needs.
- Lead the reduction of restrictive practices within the services.
Training and Guidance
- Deliver PBS training and coaching to staff, promoting best practices across services.
- Support team members through change management processes, ensuring smooth transitions and adherence to PBS principles.
- Offer consultation and advice to services managing challenging behaviours.
Evaluation and Reporting
- Conduct assessments, complete behavioural tools, and create detailed reports to guide interventions.
- Monitor outcomes and maintain records that evidence progress and effectiveness of interventions.
- Contribute to person-centred review processes and use planning tools to enhance individual care.
What We’re Looking For
Essential Qualifications and Skills
- Educated to degree level in a related field (e.g., Health, Social Care, Psychology).
- PBS Level 4 (BTEC) or equivalent experience.
- Minimum of 18 months’ experience supporting individuals with complex needs (learning disabilities, ASD, mental health).
- Proven leadership skills with the ability to guide and motivate teams.
- Strong understanding of regulatory frameworks such as the Mental Capacity Act (2005).
- Skilled in using behaviour assessment tools and writing professional reports.
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong analytical abilities and time management skills to handle a varied caseload.
Desirable Skills and Certifications
- PBS Level 5 (BTEC) or willingness to achieve this.
- PBM (ABMU) trainer certification (training provided if not already certified).
- Experience or qualifications in delivering training.
