We are seeking an enthusiastic and organized Occupational Therapy Assistant to join our Older Adults Mental Health Bromley Ward, located at St. George’s Hospital in Stafford.
Our service specializes in meeting the mental health and dementia-related needs of older adults. We aim to provide compassionate, evidence-based care through a multi-disciplinary team approach while supporting our workforce with extensive opportunities for growth and well-being.
Main Responsibilities
As a Mental Health Occupational Therapy Assistant, you will:
- Work within an inpatient setting focused on older adults with mental health and dementia needs, with flexibility to work across other wards or in the community based on service needs.
- Deliver high-quality clinical services to patients and their families both on the ward and in community settings.
- Provide occupational therapy interventions, as outlined in care plans, to individuals under the guidance of a qualified Occupational Therapist.
- Support and co-lead activities and therapeutic interventions on and off the ward to enhance patient engagement and recovery.

Essential Qualifications and Experience
To be considered for this role, candidates should meet the following criteria:
Qualifications
- Level 5 Higher Apprenticeship/Foundation Degree in a related subject or Assistant Practitioner Qualification.
- Alternatively, NVQ/QCF Level 3 in Health & Social Care or higher.
- Willingness to undertake further training relevant to the role.
Experience
- Proven experience working with individuals with mental health conditions or vulnerable adults in a healthcare setting.
- Familiarity with complex mental and physical health conditions.
- Experience delivering occupational therapy interventions, including supporting assessments and management of individuals with occupational therapy needs.
- Experience facilitating individual or group exercise programs.
Desirable Experience
- Previous experience within the Allied Health Professions (AHP) field.
