About the Role
Nottingham University Hospitals (NUH) NHS Trust is seeking a highly skilled Advanced Analyst to join the Family Health Analytical Team, with a primary focus on Maternity Services. This role requires a data-driven professional with strong SQL skills, experience in R programming, and the ability to develop reproducible analytical outputs.
The successful candidate will play a key role in healthcare data analysis, providing actionable insights, supporting system management, and advising senior managers on data-driven decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
As an Advanced Analyst, you will:
- Provide high-level expertise in healthcare data analysis and presentation to deliver insights.
- Lead analytical projects, collaborating with stakeholders to define requirements, data sources, and methodologies.
- Develop and design analytical tools, dashboards, and reports using SQL, R, and Business Intelligence software (QlikView, SSRS, etc.).
- Ensure data quality and integrity, validating and interpreting complex datasets.
- Advise senior managers on data-related decision-making, system improvements, and analytical methodologies.
- Design and implement performance metrics, supporting service improvement within the Family Health Division.
- Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to enhance reporting and analytics capabilities.

What We’re Looking For
The ideal candidate will have:
- A degree or equivalent experience in data analysis, informatics, statistics, or a related field.
- Strong SQL skills, with experience in data extraction, transformation, and analysis.
- Experience using R programming for statistical analysis and data modeling.
- Proficiency in Business Intelligence tools (QlikView, SSRS, Power BI, etc.).
- A high level of numeracy and problem-solving ability, with attention to detail.
- Experience working in healthcare informatics, particularly within secondary care datasets.
- The ability to communicate complex data insights to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Excellent project management and organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively.
- Experience with Git version control for collaborative coding (desirable).
