Job Summary

Essex Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Peer Support Worker to join the Early Intervention in Psychosis Service and At Risk Mental State teams.

This role is ideal for individuals who have lived experience of psychosis and are passionate about supporting others in their recovery journey. The successful candidate will be based at The Gables in Braintree, with the expectation of working across various locations in Mid Essex.

Main Duties & Responsibilities

  • Use lived experience of psychosis to support individuals and families in making sense of their experiences.
  • Work within a Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT) to provide care, promote recovery, and encourage social inclusion.
  • Support individuals aged 14-65 years who are experiencing or are at risk of First Episode Psychosis.
  • Engage with service users and their families in a compassionate and non-judgmental manner.
  • Travel independently across Mid Essex to provide in-person support.
  • Assist individuals in accessing appropriate community services, treatment options, and support networks.

Person Specification

Lived Experience

Essential:
  • Personal experience of psychosis and recovery.
Desirable:
  • Peer Support Worker training or relevant qualifications.

Experience

Essential:
  • Basic IT skills to record information and update service user records.
Desirable:
  • Previous experience working within statutory or charitable organisations.

Additional Information

  • Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) Check Required.
  • Certificate of Sponsorship Available for skilled worker applicants.
  • Applicants must meet the UK criminal record certificate requirement for visa applications.
