Job Overview

An exciting opportunity is available for a Senior Analyst within the Clinical Outcomes and Data Unit at The Christie, one of Europe’s leading cancer hospitals. This role involves working on key analytics projects aimed at improving patient experience and outcomes. The successful candidate will work closely with colleagues across the organization, providing insights into clinical and operational data while leading innovative analytics methodologies.

This is a hybrid role, requiring on-site presence 2 days a week.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead analytics projects focused on service and outcomes improvements.
  • Undertake complex data requests and ad-hoc reporting.
  • Act as the lead analyst for key improvement projects, providing expert advice on data methodologies.
  • Develop tools for monitoring and reporting data quality.
  • Manage requests for analytics support, ensuring efficient workflows.
  • Provide guidance and mentor junior analysts.
  • Support the implementation of advanced analytics methodologies and real-world data research projects.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential:

  • Postgraduate degree (or equivalent) in informatics, science, mathematics, or a related field.
  • Evidence of formal statistical training.

Desirable:

  • Certifications in SQL, Microsoft server tools, or similar database/reporting tools.
  • PRINCE2 Foundation or equivalent project management qualification.

Experience

Essential:

  • Extensive experience in data analysis and visualisation for decision-making.
  • Strong experience in querying complex databases.
  • Expertise in statistical techniques to extract insights.
  • Experience managing a data and analytics service, including workload distribution.
  • Programming skills in languages such as Python or R.
  • Experience with data visualisation tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or Shiny.
  • Knowledge of data quality assurance and improvement strategies.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple high-priority projects.

Desirable:

  • NHS experience, particularly working with clinicians and senior management.
  • Project management experience.

Skills and Abilities

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to manage team workloads and appraise work of others.
  • Advanced skills in data extraction, analysis, and reporting.
