- North Tyneside General Hospital
- Wansbeck General Hospital
- Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care Hospital (NSECH), England’s first specialist emergency care hospital with 24/7 emergency consultants.
We are seeking a qualified, enthusiastic, and motivated Biomedical Scientist with Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) registration. The ideal candidate should have a flexible approach to work, strong organisational skills, and the ability to work independently.
Key Responsibilities
- Work as a registered Biomedical Scientist within the Haematology/Blood Transfusion Department.
- Deliver high-quality diagnostic services to Northumbria Healthcare NHS Trust and General Practitioners.
- Supervise, train, and develop Trainee Biomedical Scientists and Medical Laboratory Assistants.
- Ensure compliance with quality control, safety protocols, and laboratory regulations.
- Contribute to coaching, mentoring, and quality improvement initiatives within the department.
- Promote a collaborative and inclusive leadership culture within the Trust.
Person Specification
Qualifications & Professional Registration
Essential:
- HCPC State Registration as a Biomedical Scientist.
- BSc (Hons) in Biomedical Science or an equivalent degree in Biomedical Science.
Desirable:
- Evidence of Continuing Professional Development (CPD).
Experience & Knowledge
Essential:
- Knowledge of or experience in coaching and mentoring practices.
- Understanding of quality improvement tools, techniques, and methods.
Additional Requirements
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work under minimal supervision.
- Commitment to maintaining high standards in laboratory practices.
- Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
