About the Role
Wirral University Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is hiring a Care Coordinator/Support Worker to support patients with Hepatobiliary (HPB) cancer. This role is key in helping individuals navigate the health and social care system, ensuring access to timely and appropriate support.
Key Responsibilities
Provide a single point of contact for HPB cancer patients, including support for rapid re-entry into care for those with urgent needs
Coordinate health and wellbeing clinics that promote patient independence and self-management
Support the development and implementation of cancer survivorship initiatives
Deliver accurate information, emotional support, and care navigation to patients and families
What We’re Looking For
Essential:
NVQ Level 3 in Health or Social Care with relevant work experience
5 GCSEs (Grade C or above) including Maths and English
Minimum 3 years’ experience in health or social care
Minimum 2 years’ experience working with cancer patients
Strong computer and keyboard skills, proficient in Microsoft Office
Excellent interpersonal, communication, and multitasking abilities
Empathetic, flexible, and able to work both independently and as part of a team
Desirable:
Basic cancer course or counselling training
Experience supporting patients with specific tumour groups
Familiarity with Macmillan Cancer Support and UK cancer care policies
Knowledge of cancer-related terminology and treatments
Additional Requirements
Willingness to travel across sites if needed
Subject to a DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check
