Requirements

• Degree in Speech and Language Therapy with active professional registration
• At least 12 months’ experience working in SLT after qualifying
• IELTS 8 (if applying internationally)
• Understanding of complex needs tied to mental health and learning disabilities
• Multidisciplinary teamwork experience preferred
• Knowledge of evidence-based practice in SLT
• Postgraduate training in areas like dysphagia or autism is a plus
• Prison clearance eligibility – vetting required to work on-site

Salary Details

This role pays £37,338 – £44,962 per year, depending on experience and qualifications. Includes NHS pension and benefits.

Key Responsibilities

• Assess and treat individuals with speech, language, communication, or swallowing needs
• Deliver evidence-based therapy aligned with each individual’s situation
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary team members across the prison system
• Guide families and staff on communication support strategies
• Contribute to awareness sessions for prison staff and care teams
• Deliver reports and plans that inform wider care pathways
• Support transitions into education, employment, and recovery frameworks
