Requirements
- Degree in Speech and Language Therapy with active professional registration
- At least 12 months’ experience working in SLT after qualifying
- IELTS 8 (if applying internationally)
- Understanding of complex needs tied to mental health and learning disabilities
- Multidisciplinary teamwork experience preferred
- Knowledge of evidence-based practice in SLT
- Postgraduate training in areas like dysphagia or autism is a plus
- Prison clearance eligibility – vetting required to work on-site
Salary Details
This role pays £37,338 – £44,962 per year, depending on experience and qualifications. Includes NHS pension and benefits.

Key Responsibilities
- Assess and treat individuals with speech, language, communication, or swallowing needs
- Deliver evidence-based therapy aligned with each individual’s situation
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary team members across the prison system
- Guide families and staff on communication support strategies
- Contribute to awareness sessions for prison staff and care teams
- Deliver reports and plans that inform wider care pathways
- Support transitions into education, employment, and recovery frameworks
