Requirements

  • NVQ Level 3 or relevant foundation degree in Health or Social Care
  • Experience in mental health support or working with vulnerable individuals
  • Strong communication skills – able to build therapeutic relationships
  • Self-driven with good planning and decision-making abilities
  • Understanding of psychological therapies like CBT and Solution-Focused Therapy
  • Empathetic mindset – calm in a crisis, non-judgemental, supportive by nature

Salary Details

This post is offered at Band 4, ranging from £26,928 to £29,551 per annum, depending on experience and service length. That’s backed with a full NHS benefits package.

About the Role

As a Support Time and Recovery Worker (STaR), you’ll be the bridge between hope and healing. Based in Newport, you’ll offer face-to-face, video, or phone-based support to those managing mild to moderate mental health challenges. Think of it like empowering others to get back to their feet – practically and emotionally.

You’ll collaborate with an inclusive team, help deliver group and low-intensity interventions, and guide service users toward meaningful goals. Whether it’s helping with budgeting, connecting someone to a local social group, or offering emotional support during a difficult week, your role matters.
