Requirements

  • NVQ Level 3 in healthcare or equivalent experience
  • Direct patient care experience, particularly in mental health
  • Strong interpersonal and teamworking skills
  • Familiarity with medical equipment and electronic patient systems

Salary Details

This full-time role offers a competitive salary between £26,530 – £29,114 per year, depending on experience and qualifications.

About the Role

This isn’t your everyday healthcare role. As a Senior Support Worker at HMP Nottingham, you’ll be a critical member of a close-knit team tackling some of society’s toughest mental health challenges. You’ll support patients inside the prison and when they re-enter the community. It’s hands-on, human work—where your empathy and problem-solving skills will shape real outcomes.

You’ll work under the supervision of a Clinical Matron, navigating complex needs, emotional distress, and rehabilitation efforts with courage and care. From care planning to crisis de-escalation, you’ll be the bridge between clinical teams and patients. If you’re looking for something with impact, where every shift matters, this might be it.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support patients with mental health needs throughout custody and into release
  • Deliver care following defined procedures and protocols
  • Assess needs and plan care with independence and confidence
  • Use patient record systems accurately and protect confidentiality

  • Promote health awareness and assist in clinical audits
  • Respond flexibly to service demands and collaborate across disciplines

Disclosure and Barring Service Check
