About the Role
This isn’t your average assistant role. As a Senior Physiotherapy Assistant, you’ll support recovery for inpatients following surgery or acute illness. Think exercise therapy, gait training, and balance rehabilitation. You’ll help assess needs, guide patients back to their daily routines, and provide physical aids where needed.
What makes this unique? You’re not just shadowing therapists – you’re running with your own caseload, working autonomously (but with support), and contributing directly to treatment plans. Patients may be vulnerable, with drips or wounds, so some experience in more clinical environments is a big plus.
With UK job opportunities like this, you’ll find both challenge and reward in equal measure. If you’re ready to roll up your sleeves and be a real part of someone’s recovery journey, this could be your next step.
Key Responsibilities
- Support patients on inpatient wards recovering from acute conditions
- Deliver exercise therapy, mobility support, and rehab plans
- Encourage daily independence and physical confidence
- Carry a delegated caseload with defined clinical boundaries
- Perform delegated assessments and follow-up interventions
- Undertake administrative and documentation tasks
- Support and mentor junior staff and therapy assistants
Disclosure and Barring Service Check
This post is covered by the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975. A DBS check will be required.
