Requirements

  • A core profession recognised by BABCP such as nursing, social work, occupational therapy, arts therapy, or psychological therapy
  • OR evidence of meeting BABCP KSA (Knowledge, Skills and Attitudes) requirements
  • Experience working in mental health services
  • Clear, professional written communication skills
  • Good grasp of anxiety and depression in a primary care context
  • Awareness of how work and mental health intersect
  • Knowledge of medications commonly used for depression and anxiety
  • A passion for evidence-based therapies and making a real difference

Salary Details

Annual pay starts at £37,338 and can rise to £44,962 depending on experience. This includes full-time university attendance 2.5 days a week and practical delivery of therapy in a clinical setting.

About the Role

Looking to step into a meaningful career where you can make a difference from day one? This CBT Trainee role blends hands-on therapy delivery with a fully funded place on a one-year PG Diploma in High Intensity Psychological Therapies. While you’re in training, you’ll be part of Sussex Partnership’s NHS Talking Therapies services, working face-to-face with clients, delivering CBT interventions, and learning from expert supervisors and tutors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver CBT interventions to clients referred to NHS Talking Therapies
  • Conduct assessments that inform personalised therapy plans
  • Attend university-based training 2.5 days per week during term time

  • Maintain accurate records and uphold clinical standards
  • Contribute to service outcomes and uphold ethical practice
