Requirements
- Foundation degree or equivalent in a relevant subject
- Experience in health or social care, ideally in palliative settings
- Confidence using IT systems and updating digital records
- Strong communication skills with a calm, professional approach
- Ability to use own initiative and recognise limits of responsibility
- Comfortable working with families and within a multidisciplinary team
- Physically able to support patients using handling aids
- Willingness to learn new skills and attend relevant training
Salary Details
The starting salary for this role is £26,530, rising to £29,114 depending on experience and qualifications.
About the Role
This new Therapy Assistant Practitioner position supports inpatient services at Priscilla Bacon Lodge, delivering specialist palliative care alongside a multi-disciplinary team. The role combines hands-on care with planning, reviewing, and progressing therapy plans under supervision of registered therapists. They’ll count on the post holder to offer both emotional and practical support to patients and their families, while keeping care consistent, dignified, and effective.
This is a hands-on role where no two days look the same. The assistant practitioner will bridge the gap between healthcare support workers and registered therapists, stepping up to make meaningful interventions. They’ll also engage in clinical meetings and represent the therapy team’s input in patient care planning.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver therapy care plans and assess progress in collaboration with therapists
- Support patients across inpatient and outpatient settings
- Communicate clearly with patients, families, and the wider care team
- Use digital systems to manage patient records and order equipment
- Help create a safe care environment by reporting and reducing risks
- Offer education and practical support to patients and their loved ones
- Attend regular MDT and review meetings to contribute therapy insights
