Job Summary
Join a dynamic Psychology & Behaviour Service based in beautiful West Wales. This is an opportunity for two passionate individuals to become Assistant Psychologists working within the Learning Disabilities Service. The post is located across Carmarthenshire, Pembrokeshire, and Ceredigion, providing essential care to adults with learning disabilities. Human Rights and person-centred care form the backbone of the service.
Key Responsibilities
- Undertake protocol-based psychological assessments using psychometric tools, structured interviews, and observations.
- Assist in delivering psychological treatment and care plans under supervision of qualified psychologists.
- Coordinate and assist in the facilitation of therapeutic group work.
- Support assessment and review of care for individuals in inpatient, community, and residential settings.
- Contribute to developing a psychologically informed care framework across all service areas.
- Attend and actively participate in multidisciplinary team meetings.
Person Specification
Essential Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Psychology with a minimum of 2:2 classification.
- Eligible for Graduate Membership of the British Psychological Society (BPS).
- Experience working with individuals with learning disabilities, disabilities, or mental health issues.
- Understanding of applied psychology in healthcare settings.
- Basic IT proficiency and ability to analyse data.
- Effective interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and under regular supervision.
Desirable
- Further postgraduate training in psychology or behavioural support methods.
- Experience in direct care roles or community-based services.
- Welsh language skills (Level 1 or higher).
- Keen interest in pursuing a long-term career in professional psychology.
