Requirements

  • Hands-on experience in mental health or social care settings
  • Confident facilitating group activities and one-to-one support
  • NVQ Level 2 or equivalent in Health and Social Care
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Basic understanding of mental health challenges and recovery processes
  • Positive attitude toward teamwork and flexibility with scheduling

About the Role

This role sits within a dedicated therapies team supporting forensic patients under the Mental Health Act. They provide structured activity programmes that build essential life, vocational, and interpersonal skills. From creative arts to physical wellness, you’ll play a vital role in helping patients rediscover their identity, confidence, and purpose.

You won’t be doing this alone. You’ll work alongside occupational therapists and other activity support workers to run therapeutic interventions across medium and low secure wards. Whether it’s co-leading a group or tailoring one-on-one sessions, your impact will ripple into real-world recovery and reintegration outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver meaningful daily activities that support recovery and skill-building
  • Support patients in developing independence and occupational engagement
  • Collaborate with therapists to tailor programmes based on individual needs
  • Promote community integration through graded interventions
