Location: Pasadena, CA, USA

Salary Range: $138,000 – $172,000 annually

Job Duties:

  • Oversee and monitor software sub-systems of the first light Adaptive Optics (AO) Systems and AO components.
  • Participate in the design and development of the Adaptive Optics Executive Software, including requirements, design, coding, and testing.
  • Organize and participate in software reviews for the AO Systems and AO Components.
  • Support Integration and Test efforts at partner/vendor sites and the TMT Observatory site.
  • Prepare requirements and statements of work for new software development for future Adaptive Optics Systems.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related discipline; advanced degree preferred.
  • 5-10 years of experience in software development, including design, code, test, integration, and maintenance.
  • Technical knowledge and experience with Linux, C/C++, Cuda C, Scala/Java, Python, and browser-based user interfaces.
  • Understanding of software systems engineering and quality assurance processes.
  • Experience with Agile software development processes and Continuous Integration (CI) systems.
  • Experience with adaptive optics control systems at large telescope facilities.
  • Residence in the Pasadena area is required, and the ability to travel to partner/vendor locations.
