Job Summary
The University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust is offering an exciting opportunity for a skilled data analyst to enhance the collection, analysis, and reporting of perinatal insights. The role will support the Maternity and Neonatal System across Leicester, Leicestershire, and Rutland to ensure the highest-quality and safest care for women, birthing people, and their babies.
The successful candidate will be responsible for extracting, analyzing, and presenting key performance indicators (KPIs) related to perinatal services, particularly around quality and safety metrics. The role requires embedding Statistical Process Control (SPC) techniques to support data-driven decision-making.
As the lead for Making Data Count, the post holder will work closely with clinical leads, CMG leadership, service users, and system colleagues to ensure data intelligence informs service improvement initiatives. This role will also focus on building confidence in data literacy among stakeholders and promoting the use of data-driven improvements.
Main Duties & Responsibilities
- Engage with internal and external stakeholders to inform and develop models of care.
- Extract, analyze, and present complex performance metrics related to perinatal services.
- Utilize data visualization tools such as Excel, Power BI, Tableau, and QlikSense to communicate insights.
- Lead formal presentations and facilitate meetings with stakeholders and project teams.
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with clinical staff to understand the service operations.
- Collaborate with NHS England and other NHS Trusts to develop data-driven solutions.
- Extract raw data from Electronic Patient Records Systems (Euroking E3, Badgernet, NerveCentre) and transform it into meaningful business intelligence.
- Support perinatal teams in identifying causes of variation and measuring the impact of changes.
- Motivate and influence decision-makers using effective communication and negotiation skills.
Person Specification
Training & Qualifications
Essential:
- Educated to Master’s degree level or equivalent in an analytical discipline (e.g., Operational Research, Mathematics, Computer Science, Social Science, Data Science).
Experience
Essential:
- Proven experience in data analysis, interpretation, and visualization.
- Ability to develop innovative data solutions for performance improvement.
Desirable:
- Experience in data analysis within a service industry.

Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) Check
