Requirements
- Qualified Pharmacy Technician registered with the GPhC
- Accredited Checking Pharmacy Technician (ACPT) qualification
- Strong accuracy and attention to detail in dispensary practice
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent organisational and communication skills
- Commitment to continuous service improvement and patient safety
Desirable: experience in hospital pharmacy, though community pharmacy technicians seeking to transition into hospital practice are also encouraged to apply.
Salary Details
The post is offered at Band 5, with pay between £31,049 – £37,796 per annum, depending on experience.
About the Role
This is an exciting opportunity for an Advanced Pharmacy Technician to play a central role in the hospital’s dispensary services. You will work across both inpatient and outpatient settings, ensuring the safe and accurate supply of medicines while also contributing to service development.
As an ACPT, you’ll carry out clinical checking responsibilities, helping maintain high standards of practice. Working closely with the Dispensary Manager, you’ll also help develop innovative services that improve patient experience and promote efficiency.
This role offers a balance between technical expertise and patient-centred service, making it an ideal step forward for technicians looking to advance in a supportive hospital setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Dispense and check medications safely and accurately for inpatients and outpatients
- Support the Dispensary Manager in developing and improving services
- Use new pharmacy technologies and systems effectively
- Ensure compliance with policies, procedures and legislation
- Promote best practice and uphold high standards of professionalism
- Contribute to staff training, mentoring and service development
Disclosure and Barring Service Check
Where a DBS check is required, the Trust will pay the fee upfront and reclaim the cost (plus £5 admin fee) from the first month’s salary. Volunteers are exempt.
