Exciting Opportunity in CAMHS Mental Health Services
Humber Teaching NHS Foundation Trust is seeking an Advanced Social Work Practitioner/Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP) to join its Acute CAMHS pathway services. This role is part of the NHS Long Term Plan to transform young people’s mental health care, focusing on crisis intervention, inpatient services, and intensive home treatment.
This is an excellent opportunity to lead social work interventions within an integrated multi-disciplinary team, working alongside healthcare professionals to support young people facing mental health challenges.
Key Responsibilities
As an Advanced Social Work Practitioner / AMHP, you will:
- Undertake mental health assessments, support planning, and direct interventions for children and young people experiencing crises.
- Lead social work interventions, ensuring that the social model of mental health is embedded in crisis care and treatment planning.
- Provide legal expertise on the Mental Health Act (MHA) and related legislation.
- Contribute to the Hull AMHP rota, maintaining a strong link with the Hull AMHP Service.
- Collaborate with key agencies, including local authorities, health services, and external partners, to ensure multi-agency support.
- Support families and caregivers, ensuring their input is considered in crisis management and service planning.
- Deliver training and supervision to social care colleagues, enhancing professional development within the service.
Essential Qualifications & Knowledge
To be successful in this role, you must have:
- A postgraduate professional qualification in Social Work (CQSW/CSS/DipSW or BA/MA in Social Work).
- Significant experience in mental health services, including assessment, care planning, and crisis management.
- AMHP qualification, with extensive knowledge of the Mental Health Act, related guidance, and case law.
- Experience managing complex caseloads, including safeguarding and risk assessment.
- Ability to work independently and within a team, ensuring effective service delivery.
Desirable Qualifications & Skills
While not essential, the following would be beneficial:
- Practice Educator qualification (Level 2 preferred).
- Experience working in Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS).
- Knowledge of social care legislation related to children and young people.
- Strong leadership and mentoring skills, with the ability to supervise and support junior colleagues.
