Requirements

  • 5 GCSEs (Grade C or above) including English/Welsh and Maths, or equivalent experience
  • Excellent planning and organisational skills to prioritise workloads effectively
  • Strong negotiation and communication skills to liaise across hospital departments
  • Proven ability to coordinate activities and act as the voice between patients and the care team
  • Confident with customer service and issue resolution in a hospital setting
  • Experience monitoring and assessing quality and performance
  • Willingness to travel between sites across Wales as required
  • A flexible attitude to hours and teamwork
  • Ability to speak Welsh is desirable but not essential

Salary Details

This position falls under the Agenda for Change Band 3 pay scheme. All new starters begin at the bottom of the band but may request a higher point if prior relevant experience applies.

About the Role

As an Ambulance Care Hospital Coordinator, you’ll manage patient transport for The Princess of Wales Hospital. Your day revolves around ensuring non-emergency journeys are timely, safe, and patient-focused. You’ll act as a bridge between patients, oncology units, and transport providers, making sure communication flows seamlessly.

You’ll handle patient journey planning, assist day controllers, and support the quality assurance of live transport data. This office-based role calls for someone proactive, organised, and calm under pressure. You’ll play a crucial part in maintaining standards that keep the service running efficiently while upholding compassion at every stage.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate patient transport schedules to meet hospital and patient needs
  • Maintain communication between patients, hospital departments, and transport providers
  • Monitor performance data to uphold quality and timeliness
  • Address and resolve day-to-day issues that arise on or off site
  • Foster collaboration between teams to ensure a patient-first experience
  • Support the Journey Coordination Centre and Enhanced Hubs to deliver customer-focused care
  • Provide accurate information for reporting and service planning
