On the heels of Epic CEO Tim Sweeney’s critique regarding Apple’s rollout of alternative app stores on iOS within the EU, Apple took swift action by revoking Epic’s developer account, labeling the company as ‘verifiably untrustworthy.’
In a recent development, Apple has dealt a blow to Epic Games’ aspirations to introduce its own third-party app store on iOS within the European Union. This setback emerged as Apple terminated the developer account intended for this purpose. Epic Games shared insights into this decision through a blog post, revealing a letter from Apple’s legal team characterizing Epic as “verifiably untrustworthy” and expressing doubts about Epic’s commitment to adhere to contractual obligations under the developer agreement.
The letter, dated March 2nd, states, “Please be advised that Apple has, effective immediately, terminated the Developer Program membership of Epic Games Sweden AB,” invoking Apple’s contractual prerogative to terminate agreements at its discretion.

Epic, in response, criticized Apple’s actions, accusing the tech giant of stifling competition and choice on iOS devices in Europe and beyond. Epic’s determination to challenge Apple’s dominance remains unwavering, as the company pledges to continue advocating for genuine competition and consumer choice.
Throughout this ordeal, Epic has been vocal about its interactions with Apple, highlighting the intensity of their dispute over iOS policies and practices.

Epic is getting screwed
That’s unfortunate. Epic makes good games.
But how come other companies have criticized Apple to the moon and back but haven’t had their account affected, perhaps because they haven’t knowingly and repeatedly broken the ToS in bad faith.
I don’t think that just because something is in the TOS it means it’s legal.. ToS are made to screw you.
Its because these guys are are big threat to Apple
Apple is trying to safeguard their App store from unnecessary violations.
