Position: Security Officer – Full Time – Nights

Responsibilities:

Under the guidance of the Lieutenant and Sergeant/Shift Supervisor, ensure the safety and security of university and hospital personnel, patients, students, visitors, and Jefferson assets. Conduct security duties at fixed posts, on patrols, or during rounds of campus/hospital premises. Monitor for unauthorized individuals, security violations, and fire or safety hazards. Prepared to fulfill responsibilities at any fixed post or patrol duty in various environments and shifts. Represent the university and hospital by providing directions or information when needed.

Responsibilities include:

• Interacted with co-workers, visitors, and staff in line with Jefferson’s values.
• Conducted security patrols at fixed posts or on patrol, addressing security violations and safety hazards.
• Verified the identity of individuals on campus and escorted unauthorized persons off-campus as necessary.
• Responded promptly to service calls, including priority incidents or emergencies, and reported conditions to supervisors.
• Investigated and documented accidents, incidents, or suspicious activities, maintaining daily patrol logs.
• Provided assistance to employees, students, patients, and visitors during incidents, including security escorts upon request.
• Assisted with campus parking issues and supported safety teams during emergencies.
• Performed other security, safety, and protection duties as assigned, including loss prevention and training new security staff.

Qualifications:

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Familiarity with responsibilities and technology associated with the 24-hour Security Response Center (SRC).
• Completion of relevant Security Department training modules and maintenance of required training.

Experience, Education, Certifications, and Licenses:

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
• Proficiency with Microsoft desktop applications (Word, E-mail).
• Advanced training in Criminal Justice preferred.
• Prior security, police, or military experience preferred.
• Experience in campus/hospital security, law enforcement, or related Criminal Justice agencies preferred.

Conditions of Employment:

• Compliance with the requirements of the Child Protective Services Act, including background checks.
• COVID-19 vaccination is mandatory for employment at Jefferson’s clinical entities or the University. Exemptions granted for approved medical or religious reasons.
