Key Responsibilities

As the Registered Manager, you will:

• Plan and Coordinate Operations: Oversee the daily operations of the home, ensuring smooth and efficient functioning.
• Ensure Compliance: Adhere to all relevant legislation and regulations, including the Care Inspectorate Wales and Health & Safety at Work Act.
• Implement Policies: Embrace and enforce home policies and procedures to maintain high standards of care.
• Lead the Team: Provide direction and leadership to all home personnel, ensuring clear communication and understanding of policies and procedures.
• Maintain Records: Ensure proper maintenance of all resident and other records in accordance with policy and legislation.
• Handle Complaints: Investigate and address complaints appropriately, reporting to the Responsible Individual.
• Optimize Occupancy: Take measures to ensure the home maintains optimum occupancy at all times.
• Communicate Effectively: Develop and maintain good channels of communication with residents’ relatives or next of kin.
• Assess Competence: Assess staff competence, supervise the maintenance and administration of medicines, and ensure compliance with Care Inspectorate Wales’ standards.
• Uphold Professional Practice: Adhere to the Social Care Wales Code of Professional Practice and ensure all staff comply with the code.

Essential Qualifications

To be considered for this role, you must have:

• QCF Level 5 in Leadership for Health and Social Care Services (Adults Residential Management).
• Registration with Social Care Wales.
• Knowledge of RISCA: A sound understanding of the Regulation and Inspection of Social Care (Wales) Act 2016.
• Leadership Experience: At least three years of leadership or management experience in a similar setting.
• Understanding of Elderly Care: Demonstrated understanding of the needs of older persons and the role of a Registered Manager.
• Effective Communication Skills: Strong verbal, written, literacy, and numeracy skills.
• Passion for Care: A proven record and passion for providing elderly, person-centred care and achieving positive outcomes.
• Positive Attitude: A positive, flexible attitude and a desire to make a difference.

Desirable Qualifications

While not mandatory, the following qualifications are highly desirable:

• Adult Nursing Degree/Qualification.
• Teaching Qualification: Recognized teaching qualification such as PGCE/Cert ED, DTLLS/CTLLS, or Level 5 Education & Training.
• Experience in Nursing Home Sector: Five years of experience within the nursing home sector.
• Management Experience: Three years of management experience within the nursing home sector.
• Welsh Language: Understanding of the Welsh language.

Working Hours and Requirements

• Certification: NVQ/QCF Level 5 in Health and Social Care Management.
• Driving Licence: A valid driving licence is required.
