St Giles Trust is seeking a dedicated Children and Families Caseworker to join our team in Swansea, Neath, and Port Talbot. This part-time, fixed-term position offers the chance to work closely with families, helping them overcome difficulties and achieve their full potential.

In this role, you will work with families to address the issues that often precede a young person’s involvement in gangs, such as poverty, unsuitable housing, family conflict, and substance misuse. By adopting a “whole family” approach, you will mentor young people at risk of gang involvement and provide holistic support to their families. This approach is essential to breaking the cycle of violence, victimization, and poverty.

As a Children and Families Caseworker, you will develop relationships with other agencies to ensure a steady flow of referrals. You will offer tailored support to improve families’ mental health, housing, finances, and readiness to engage in training and employment. Your work will involve conducting needs assessments, developing action plans, and collaborating with other agencies to deliver comprehensive support. Additionally, you will provide support to families affected by domestic violence and help them develop safety plans.

We are looking for individuals with experience working with socially excluded children, young people, and adults. Experience in providing advice, guidance, or mentoring to families is also essential. You should be comfortable engaging with challenging families and young people and possess strong negotiation and networking skills to establish links with partner agencies.
