Our Customer Compliance Group (CCG) ensures individuals and businesses pay the correct tax, directly contributing to funding vital public services such as schools and hospitals.

As a Compliance Caseworker, you’ll investigate cases of tax non-compliance, review financial data, and resolve issues through collaboration with taxpayers. Your role is crucial in supporting HMRC’s mission of maintaining a fair and efficient tax system.
Responsibilities:
- Analyze financial records and tax returns to spot discrepancies.
- Conduct in-depth investigations and gather evidence on suspected non-compliance.
- Work closely with taxpayers, representatives, and stakeholders to resolve issues.
- Prepare detailed reports with findings and recommendations.
- Collaborate with teams to ensure consistent application of tax regulations.
- Participate in ongoing training to stay updated on tax laws and compliance procedures.
Working Conditions:
This role offers hybrid working, with up to 40% of your time working remotely. You’ll also engage in both desk-based investigations and site visits to various business premises. Compliance Caseworkers typically work between 7 am and 8 pm, Monday through Saturday, up to 37 hours per week.
Training:
Successful candidates will undergo an 18-month comprehensive training program, starting with 12 weeks of full-time induction. The training equips you with the necessary knowledge and skills to excel as a Compliance Caseworker. Flexible working options may be available after this initial period.

Selection Process:
You will complete an application form, followed by a series of tests, including situational judgement, numerical, and caseworker skills tests. Successful candidates will be invited to a video interview and virtual In-tray exercise. Final selection is based on merit lists for the preferred location.
