Salary: Up to €42,000 per annum

About the Role:

Study Group is looking for a motivated and experienced Maths and Physics Tutor to join our team, helping international students prepare for Level 1 undergraduate study at University College Dublin (UCD). As a tutor, you will be responsible for planning and delivering effective programs that cater to the unique needs of our diverse student population. You will provide individualized support to help students achieve their progression requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Program Planning and Execution: Develop and deliver inclusive learning programs through well-structured schemes of work.
  • Session Planning: Create teaching sessions that cater to individualized learning, utilizing a variety of resources including digital tools.
  • VLE Resources: Ensure a wide range of learning materials are available on the Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) for student access and engagement.
  • Teaching Principles: Apply effective teaching principles to design learning activities that meet curriculum requirements and address the needs of all students.
  • Learning Approaches: Select appropriate learning methods and skill development techniques to facilitate student progress.
  • Learning Environment: Contribute to creating a stimulating learning environment while adhering to Health and Safety procedures.
  • Assessment Principles: Apply various assessment principles, including initial, diagnostic, formative, and summative assessments.
  • Interactive Assessments: Use diverse methods to check learning progress during lessons and ensure interactive assessment activities are accessible via the VLE.
  • Feedback: Provide regular and timely feedback to students, aiding their improvement and qualification achievement.
  • Summative Assessments: Develop and conduct summative assessments that accurately measure the achievement of learning outcomes, including repeat assessments.
  • Preparation: Prepare students for summative assessments through revision sessions and practice assessments.
  • Moderation and Documentation: Engage in the moderation of assessment materials and student work, including double marking, preparing relevant documentation for external examiners, and participating in module assessment boards.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student attendance and progress.

About You:

  • Essential: Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics, Physics, or a related area.
  • Desirable: Relevant teaching qualification or post-graduate degree.
  • Essential: Experience teaching in Higher or Further Education sectors or at Leaving Certificate (Hons)/A-level.
  • Desirable: Experience working with international students.
