As a Healthcare Assistant, you will play a crucial role in providing top-notch patient care, often being the first point of contact for patients. Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver compassionate and professional patient-centered care, respecting privacy and dignity.
  • Assist patients with personal care, hygiene, and sanitary needs.
  • Support patients with their nutritional needs, ensuring assistance is provided at mealtimes.
  • Accurately document food and fluid intake and output as per the patient’s care plan.
  • Aid in skin and pressure area care to prevent pressure ulcers.
  • Help patients with safe mobilization and utilize appropriate equipment to minimize injury risks.
  • Support rehabilitation and therapeutic activities as needed.
  • Assist nursing staff in taking and recording vital signs.
  • Communicate any changes in the patient’s condition to the nurse or midwife in charge.

Main Duties

  • Maintain high standards of patient-centered care.
  • Assist patients with personal care and hygiene.
  • Support patients’ nutritional needs and document intake.

Person Specification

Criteria Essential Desirable
Education & Qualifications Basic literacy and numeracy skills NVQ/QCF Level 2 Diploma in Clinical Healthcare Support, IT skills, recent study, Level 2 in English and Math
Experience Understanding of patient needs in a care setting, confidentiality, confident people skills Experience in a care setting, working in a team, transferable skills, passion for the role
Disclosure & Barring Service Check Subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975
