Applications are invited for two Band 3 Children’s Nursing Assistant positions on Ward 19 – Paediatrics.

Main Duties of the Job
The Children’s Nursing Assistant (CNA) role supports registered practitioners in delivering nursing care to a defined group of patients with specific medical and/or mental health needs.
Responsibilities include undertaking a range of activities under the indirect supervision of a qualified practitioner, working within a set framework after receiving training and competency assessment. Additional duties involve participating in care assessments, reporting findings to the accountable nurse, and contributing to multidisciplinary team efforts in caring for children while liaising with other specialties as necessary.

The Children’s Unit at The Princess Royal Hospital, Telford, comprises a 36-bed acute general pediatric ward, including a 3-bed oncology unit. The unit provides care for children aged 0-17 years with medical, surgical, orthopedic, mental health, and oncology conditions.
The organization is committed to staff development and offers a competency package supported by a Clinical Practice Educator, tailored for individuals with varying levels of experience.

Person Specification
Knowledge and Experience
Essential Criteria:
- Basic understanding of the needs of children and families.
- Recent substantial experience in a childcare or healthcare setting.
- Awareness of basic child protection procedures.
Qualifications
Essential Criteria:
- Childcare qualification (e.g., NNEB) or Healthcare Assistant (HCA) qualification (NVQ Level 3).
- GCSEs in Mathematics and English (grades 9-4) or equivalent qualifications.
