Job Overview

The Clerical Radiology Department Assistant role supports the efficient functioning of the Radiology Department in a demanding and rewarding environment. The role involves serving as the first point of contact for patients, ensuring high standards of service and accurate record-keeping.

Candidates should have office or reception experience, preferably within a healthcare setting, though this is not essential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Greet patients professionally, verify ID and demographics, and ensure hospital records are accurate.
  • Manage patient appointments, including walk-ins and scheduled visits, using computer systems.
  • Communicate effectively and respectfully with patients, families, staff, and external agencies.
  • Uphold principles of record-keeping, ensuring accurate and confidential data entry.

Person Specification

Qualifications

  • English and Maths GCSE
  • NVQ Level 2 or equivalent experience
  • Willingness to undertake relevant in-house training

Experience

  • Office work, teamwork, and customer service
  • Proficiency in keyboard/data input tasks
  • Administrative experience in healthcare (desirable)

Skills

  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Ability to work under pressure and multi-task
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Experience handling public-facing roles (desirable)

Knowledge

  • Principles of record-keeping
  • Experience dealing with diverse individuals and situations
