Job Overview
The primary responsibility of this role is to ensure the safe and timely transfer and escorting of patients across hospital wards and departments. The position requires team players with a compassionate and empathetic approach, capable of maintaining patient privacy and dignity while delivering a confidential and caring service. Candidates should exhibit enthusiasm, energy, and the ability to work effectively under pressure. Strong teamwork and the ability to work independently when required are essential. A professional approach is necessary to ensure respect, care, and consideration for patients, upholding trust values at all times. Working hours for the role are from 12:00 to 22:30, seven days a week.

Main Duties of the Job

  • Providing transfer team skills across all wards and departments within the Trust.
  • Displaying flexibility and the ability to organize and prioritize workload independently.
  • Facilitating the smooth and safe transfer of patients between wards and departments.
  • Adhering to Trust protocols and policies, with particular focus on infection control, equality and diversity, and maintaining patient privacy and dignity.
  • Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to provide a courteous, reliable, and high-quality service to patients, their families, and healthcare professionals.

Person Specification

Qualifications

  • Essential Criteria
    • Good general education to GCSE level or equivalent.
    • Proficiency in literacy and numeracy.
    • Care Support Certificate or willingness to undertake.
  • Desirable Criteria
    • Evidence of practical training or education in a care setting.
    • NVQ qualification.

Experience

  • Essential Criteria
    • Previous experience as a Care Support Worker.
  • Desirable Criteria
    • Experience in a care or hospital environment.
    • Competence in cannulation, venepuncture, and ECG procedures.
    • Ability to perform clinical observations such as blood pressure and pulse measurements, and recording them on Patientrack.
