Main Duties of the Job
The main Control Centre serves as the sole access and egress point for Rampton Hospital, acting as the first line of security. It operates as part of a larger Security Department to ensure a safe and secure environment for patients, visitors, contractors, and staff across the hospital site.

Detailed Job Description and Main Responsibilities
The role of Control Centre Assistant involves working as part of a large team in the Reception and Control Room of a high secure hospital. Responsibilities include operating complex access and egress systems to maintain a safe and secure environment for patients, visitors, contractors, and staff.
Key tasks include providing front-facing service to various customers, offering information and advice in challenging situations. Shift patterns cover 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, including weekends, bank holidays, and nights.
Duties encompass operating security systems and equipment such as:
- X-Ray machines
- Metal detection equipment
- Microsearch electronic heartbeat detector systems for vehicle searches
- Visitor, contractor, and staff computerised access systems
Other responsibilities include searching individuals and property, monitoring CCTV, and operating digital radio systems. Additional tasks involve conducting perimeter checks and reporting findings to the Duty Team Leader.
The role requires GCSE qualifications (A-D) or equivalent, IT knowledge, and excellent verbal and written communication skills. Candidates must demonstrate the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Important Information
This role does not meet the pay threshold required for a Skilled Worker Visa. Candidates with no prior NHS experience are typically placed at the bottom of the band, and the salary may not qualify for Skilled Worker/Health & Care visa sponsorship.
