Job Summary

Liverpool John Moores University International Study Centre is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Electrical Engineering Tutor to join the teaching team. The successful candidate will deliver high-quality teaching to international students preparing for university studies. This role requires someone who is passionate about motivating students, enjoys working with international learners, and is committed to providing an effective blended learning experience.

The tutor will be responsible for teaching various Electrical Engineering modules, ensuring that students are fully prepared for their university courses. The role also includes pastoral responsibilities, ensuring that each student receives the support they need to thrive academically. This is an exciting opportunity for a tutor who enjoys working in a dynamic, collaborative, and innovative environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality teaching to groups of international students in Electrical Engineering.
  • Mark and provide feedback on both formative and summative assessments, adhering to quality standards and processes.
  • Act as Module Leader for relevant subjects, coordinating with other tutors, preparing module handbooks, and reviewing module assessment analysis reports.
  • Teach up to 20 hours per week (contact time) across different engineering modules.
  • Implement curriculum enhancement and enrichment activities, both inside and outside the classroom.
  • Ensure student attendance, punctuality, and appropriate behaviour in the classroom.
  • Maintain accurate records of student attendance, assessment grades, and performance data.
  • Promote differentiation in teaching methods to meet the diverse needs of students.
  • Promote the use of technology-enhanced learning (TEL) and ensure the virtual learning environment (VLE) meets university standards for the modules taught.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related subject.
  • Master’s degree in the subject area (required).
  • Doctorate-level qualification (desirable).
  • Relevant teaching qualification.
  • At least 2 years of teaching experience in higher education, preferably with international students.
  • Experience developing and updating teaching materials, with proficiency in using Virtual Learning Environments (VLE).
  • Experience in marking and moderating assessments and providing clear, constructive feedback.

Desirable Experience

  • Experience in assessment design.
  • Experience teaching Electrical Engineering in an international setting.
  • Experience with technology-enhanced learning (TEL) tools and innovative teaching methods.
