About You

We deliver educational programs nationwide and are looking for English and/or mathematics tutors to work during term-time only. These part-time positions are available at various locations, including Exeter, Gloucester, Bristol, Twickenham, and Northampton. You will need excellent communication skills and the ability to build rapport to support our learners and explore new opportunities. You’ll be highly organized, with demonstrated planning and time-management skills, supported by good IT skills. You will also need:

  • PGCE/Cert in Education or L5 Diploma in Education and Training
  • Qualified to a minimum of Level 3 in your specialist subjects and a minimum of Level 2 in English and mathematics
  • Experience of teaching English and/or mathematics up to Level 2 and/or GCSE
  • Effective skills in managing conflict and maintaining high standards of classroom behavior
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

About the Role

As an English and/or mathematics tutor, you will design, plan, and deliver inspirational learning programs that support learners to achieve the highest academic standards. You will deliver interactive teaching sessions that are practical in nature, aiming to build vocational confidence while developing employability and social skills. You will enable learners to achieve accredited qualifications up to and including Level 2 in English and/or mathematics in Functional Skills and GCSE.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in organizing internal assessments and external examinations
  • Contribute to course review processes, curriculum development, and quality assurance in line with the organization’s policies and procedures
  • Effectively meet the needs of individual learners and support their success on their program of learning

Safeguarding Responsibilities

This role involves daily contact with learners, and you will engage in regulated activity relevant to children. All staff and volunteers have a responsibility for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children, young people, and/or vulnerable adults for whom they are responsible and with whom they come into contact. Central YMCA is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
