The Team

Training

We provide necessary training for the role, including funding for Level 3, 4, or 5 QCF/NVQ Residential Childcare Qualifications. We prioritize the health, safety, welfare, wellbeing, and development of the young people in our care.

Main Duties

  • Support the Manager: Work alongside the residential home’s manager to ensure high standards of care for our service users.
  • Empathy and Relationship Building: Demonstrate genuine empathy for young people and support them in achieving their goals and ambitions.
  • Supervision and Guidance: Provide supervision, advice, and guidance to other staff members.
  • Rota Planning: Participate fully in a working rota, including evenings, sleep-ins, and weekends.
  • External Relationships: Build strong relationships with external agencies, such as Local Authorities and Health/Social Care professionals.
  • Safeguarding: Be responsible for the effective safeguarding of young people and know how to raise concerns.
  • Daily Support: Assist young people with everyday tasks such as cooking, cleaning, medical appointments, and meetings.

Shift Patterns and Pay

  • Shift Pattern: 1 day on, 2 days off, totaling 10 or 11 shifts per month, including 6 sleep-ins.
  • Compensation: A 10-shift month with 6 sleep-ins and 2 overtime shifts pays £35,003.80 annually. Sleep-ins are paid at £60 per night, and on-call cover is paid at £35 per night.

Ideal Experience

  • Experience in a children and young adult residential environment
  • Understanding of relevant legislation related to the care of young people
  • Experience working with young people with social, emotional, and/or behavioral difficulties

Preferred Qualifications

  • Level 3 Diploma/NVQ: Residential Childcare Diploma or equivalent
  • Level 4 Diploma/NVQ: Leadership and Management for Care Services or equivalent
  • Level 5 Diploma/NVQ: Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare or equivalent

Additional Requirements

  • Full driving license (preferred)
  • Own transport (preferred)
  • Ability to work at least 3 shifts per week and sleep-ins
  • Enhanced DBS Certificate (preferred)
  • Enrollment in the DBS Update Service (preferred)
