Requirements

  • Experience in managing teams within Adult Social Care, particularly focusing on adults aged 18-65 with disabilities
  • Knowledge of Care Act Assessments, Community Deprivation of Liberty Assessments, and safeguarding practices
  • Understanding of Mental Capacity Act assessments and Best Interest decisions
  • Leadership skills to manage a diverse team and workload effectively
  • Fluency in English and the ability to communicate confidently in all spoken aspects of the role
  • Knowledge of the Care First 6 system is advantageous but not essential

About the Role

As a Team Manager within Devon County Council’s Disability Focus Team, you will lead a dedicated team supporting adults with various needs, primarily those with learning disabilities. The role involves overseeing assessments, commissioning care, and ensuring timely responses to mitigate risks. Regular supervision and support will be provided, with opportunities for professional development and flexible working arrangements to support your work-life balance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise a team managing care for adults with learning disabilities
  • Oversee and conduct assessments under the Care Act and Mental Capacity Act
  • Manage safeguarding duties and ensure compliance with legal standards
  • Collaborate with Community Service Managers and other stakeholders
  • Support the team with workload management and ensure timely responses to client needs
