The Hispanic Achievement Scholarship, generously funded by Garcia, aims to support Hispanic students in their transition from high school to college. Recognizing the challenges faced by first-generation students from minority backgrounds, this scholarship provides financial assistance and mentorship to empower them for success in higher education.

Eligibility Requirements

  • Education Level: High school senior
  • GPA: 3.0 or higher
  • State: New York
  • Identity: Hispanic
  • Background: First-generation college student
  • Citizenship Status: U.S. citizen, permanent legal resident, or DACA recipient

Starting college marks a significant milestone in a student’s life, often accompanied by stress and major life changes. This transition can be especially daunting for first-generation students from minority backgrounds who lack mentors and guidance. The Hispanic Achievement Scholarship seeks to alleviate these challenges by providing support to Hispanic high school seniors in New York who exhibit academic excellence with a minimum GPA of 3.0 and aspire to be first-generation college students. Applicants must also hold U.S. citizenship, permanent residency, or DACA status.

To apply for the scholarship, candidates are required to submit a brief essay or video sharing their personal story and outlining their aspirations for making a positive impact on society through their chosen career path.

Selection Criteria
Applicants will be evaluated based on their ambition, drive, and potential impact on their communities.
