Research Areas:
Fellows are expected to conduct research in thematic areas such as Water & Resource Management, Innovation & Education, Governance for Sustainable Development, and Biodiversity & Society, with a focus on gender issues and policy relevance.
Benefits:
The fellowship includes a one-way airfare ticket (according to JSPS guidelines), a monthly maintenance allowance of JPY 362,000, a settling-in allowance of JPY 200,000, and international travel insurance. A research grant (Grant-in-Aid for Scientific Research) is also provided for cooperative research costs.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Candidates must have a doctorate earned on or after April 2, 2018, deducting maternity or paternity leave.
- Nationals of nations with diplomatic ties to Japan are eligible; researchers from Taiwan and Palestine are welcome.
- Permanent residents of Japan, Japanese nationals, and those who have received a Standard or Pathway Fellowship from the JSPS Postdoctoral Fellowship for Research in Japan are ineligible.

Before submission, the host researcher must be verified, and applicants must secure a deal with a host researcher at a Japanese institution before applying.
