Requirements
- Registered General Nurse qualification
- Degree in Nursing or working towards one
- Preparation of mentors or equivalent certification
- 2 years’ experience at Band 5 in an acute care setting
- Clinical skills including venepuncture, cannulation, ECG, IV drugs administration, and Immediate Life Support (ILS)
- Strong communication and negotiation skills
- Knowledge of NMC Code of Conduct and Risk Management
- Willingness to undertake further training in Leadership and Management

East Kent Hospitals is looking for a Junior Sister to join their dedicated team in providing high-quality care to patients. The successful candidate will play a key part in ensuring patient safety, using enhanced observations and risk assessments to identify individual needs and deliver the best possible care.

Key Responsibilities
- Support and assist the Ward Manager in overseeing daily ward operations
- Ensure staff competence for clinical practice procedures using the trust competency framework
- Monitor performance and manage nursing staff in areas of responsibility
- Maintain accurate staff records for annual leave, sickness, and absence
- Represent the ward at Trust-wide forums and inter-agency meetings when required
- Ensure the safe and effective use of all medical devices within the ward
- Actively participate in and support Directorate initiatives
- Provide specialist advice and support to peer group staff, patients, and relatives
- Act as a clinical expert and positive role model for all staff
- Contribute to the efficient discharge of patients by understanding discharge pathways and working closely with involved teams
